Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Jersey Web (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects personal information when you visit jerseyweb.je (the “Site”) or deal with us in connection with our web design, development, and related services (the “Services”).

Jersey Web is a web design and development business based in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller responsible for your personal data, and we handle it in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. How to contact us

If you have any questions about this policy or your personal data, please contact us using the email above.

2. The information we collect

We keep the personal data we hold to a minimum. We may collect:

  • Information you give us directly: for example when you fill in our contact form or our directory request form, send us your plan from our website planner, or email us: your name, email address, phone number (if you provide it), and the content of your message.
  • Client information: if you become a client, billing details and project information needed to deliver and invoice for our Services.
  • Publicly available information: where we contact prospective business clients, we may use information that is already publicly available (for example a business’s published contact details, or details listed on a company’s own website or a public register). We only use such information for relevant, business-to-business purposes.
  • Business directory: our Jersey business directory lists businesses using details each business publishes itself, on its own website or in public directories: the business name, what it does, its area or parish, its website address and a short description. These are business details; where a business trades under a person’s name, that name is personal data, and you can ask us to correct or remove the listing at any time.
  • Technical information: collected automatically when you use the Site, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and the pages you view (see section 5, Cookies & analytics).

We do not ask for or intentionally collect sensitive (“special category”) data such as health, race, or beliefs. Please don’t include such information in messages to us.

3. Why we use your information, and our lawful basis

Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using personal data. We rely on the following:

What we do Why Lawful basis
Respond to your enquiry and provide a quote To answer you and discuss working together Legitimate interests / steps to enter a contract
Provide and manage our Services To deliver the work you’ve engaged us for Contract
Send invoices and keep accounting records To run the business and meet tax/legal duties Legal obligation
Contact prospective business clients using publicly available details To offer relevant services to businesses Legitimate interests (you can object at any time)
Publish the business directory, and deal with requests to add, update or remove a listing To help people find local businesses and their websites Legitimate interests (you can ask us to correct or remove a listing at any time)
Operate, secure, and improve the Site (incl. analytics) To keep the Site working and understand its use Legitimate interests; analytics cookies set only with your consent

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we’ve weighed our interests against your rights and only use data in ways you’d reasonably expect. You can object to this processing at any time (see section 7).

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We only share it with trusted providers who help us run the business, and only as needed, for example:

  • our email and IT providers;
  • Cloudflare, which provides our website hosting, security, and performance, and delivers the messages you send through our forms to our inbox;
  • Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, which provide website usage analytics, only if you agree to them (see section 5);
  • our accountant / bookkeeping software;
  • professional advisers, and authorities where we’re required to by law.

These providers act on our instructions. Some may process data outside the UK; where they do, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or transfers to “adequate” countries).

5. Cookies & analytics

Our Site uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use it, which set cookies. Analytics and other non-essential cookies are only used with your consent, which you give (or decline) via our cookie banner and can change at any time. Strictly necessary cookies that make the Site work don’t require consent. See our Cookie Policy for details.

6. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t become work: up to 12–24 months, then deleted.
  • Directory listings: while the listing is published. Directory requests: up to 24 months after we have dealt with them.
  • Client records: for our working relationship and then up to 6 years afterwards (to meet UK tax and accounting requirements).
  • Other data: no longer than we reasonably need it.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate data;
  • ask us to erase your data, in certain circumstances;
  • restrict or object to our processing, including objecting to use of publicly-sourced data for outreach;
  • request portability of data you provided to us;
  • withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent (e.g. analytics).

To exercise any of these, email us at hello@jerseyweb.je. We’ll respond within one month, and there’s normally no charge.

8. Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows the current version, and any significant changes will be noted on the Site.
