Overview

A @gmail.com address on a business card undermines trust before a word is spoken. A professional email (you@yourbusiness.je or you@yourbusiness.com) tells people you are serious. It costs very little and makes an immediate difference.

We handle the domain registration, email setup, DNS configuration and anything else that needs doing under the bonnet. You end up with a working, professional email address and a domain that belongs to you, with nothing complicated left to sort out yourself.

Ideal for: Jersey businesses that want a professional email address and domain name properly set up from the start.

Questions

Common questions

Can I get a .je domain?

Yes. Anyone can register a .je, and for a business serving the island it is a clear local signal. One thing to know: there is no paid privacy service for .je, but the public record shows only the organisation name and the registrar, not personal details. We register it in your name and handle the rest.

How much does a .je domain cost?

£49 a year direct from the Channel Isles registry. Registrars set their own prices for .je and .co.uk, and must tell you the renewal charge in advance. The domain is paid for separately from our setup and stays registered in your name.

Which email provider do you recommend?

Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 are the most reliable options and both work well on phones, tablets and computers. We advise based on your preference and budget.

Can I move my existing domain over?

Yes. If your domain is registered elsewhere we can transfer it, or simply point it to the right place if you would rather leave it where it is.

What happens to my old emails if I switch?

We talk through your situation before we make any changes. Old emails can usually be migrated across, and we would never cut over in a way that risks losing anything.

What clients say

We had over fifty years of history and nowhere sensible to put it online. Jersey Web gave us one place where clubs, events and news actually make sense to a visitor. Members find what they need without ringing us first.

Clients are often nervous before they even get in touch, so the site needed to feel calm rather than clever. It does. People arrive at the first session already knowing how I work, which makes the start of counselling easier.

We have just taken the reins of our website, love your door.co.uk. Fantastic communication the whole way through, to deliver what we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend these guys who really know their stuff. Thanks again.

Worth knowing

Your domain, your email address, your name on both

Two decisions get made once and then live with your business for years: which domain you use, and whose name it is registered in. Both are easy to get wrong in a hurry.

On the domain, a .je address reads as local to island customers, which is worth something when trust is the deciding factor. A .co.uk works perfectly well and often costs less to renew. Some businesses hold both and point one at the other, which avoids a competitor picking up the version you did not buy. What matters more than the ending is that the registration sits in your name, with the account details in your possession. Businesses that let a previous designer register the domain find out the hard way when they want to move. Our .je or .co.uk guide goes through the choice in more detail.

Email or domain already stopped working? Our checklist of what to check first covers failing email, a domain you cannot get into and a website that is down, with what not to do in a hurry.

On email, an address at your own domain does quiet work. A quote from yourname@yourbusiness.je reads as a business. The same quote from a free webmail address reads as a side project, and some customers will treat it that way when deciding who to trust with a deposit.

The part nobody mentions is deliverability. A new domain sending its first emails needs its records set up properly, or your quotes land in junk and you never find out. We configure those records when we set up the mailbox, then send test messages to the main providers to confirm they arrive in the inbox.
