  • Domains & email

    Mail server

A mail server performs relevant email functions, such as receiving, transferring or making messages available to clients. Different components can handle different stages. Record the provider and responsibility for each stage, because a working website server does not establish that the business’s separate email service is configured correctly.

    Also called: email server

  • Domains & email

    Mailbox

A mailbox is a mail-system location or account arrangement for holding and managing messages. Its address, access permissions and storage behaviour depend on the provider. Identify who can read and send, how messages are retained and what the recovery process covers, especially when an address serves the whole business.

    Also called: email mailbox

  • Security & legal

    Malware

Malware is software designed to cause harm, such as stealing information, disrupting systems or taking control of a device. Websites can also be compromised and used to distribute it. Keep systems maintained, limit access and have tested backups rather than relying on a security badge alone.

    Also called: malicious software

  • Websites & hosting

    Managed hosting

Managed hosting includes agreed operational work alongside the hosting service, performed by a provider or administrator.

  • Design & content

    Map tile

A map tile is a piece of map representation used within a tiled map arrangement. A client requests relevant pieces for the view and zoom level. A Jersey business should identify the actual tile service, usage requirements and displayed result; a working map library does not guarantee that its background provider remains available or that the intended location is correct.

    Also called: Map tiles

  • Design & content

    Map zoom level

A map zoom level identifies a level within the client and map-source arrangement used to present a view. Tiled map schemes associate levels with relevant tile coordinates. Review the actual provider and client conventions, then inspect useful representative views; a zoom number alone does not establish that the displayed detail or business marker is correct.

    Also called: Map zoom

  • Design & content

    Markdown

Markdown is a text-based syntax for writing formatted content such as headings, lists and links. A publishing system converts it into another presentation, commonly HTML. A Jersey business should use the features its actual system supports, preview the rendered page and check structure, links and media before publishing an update.

  • Design & content

    matchMedia

matchMedia is a browser Window method returning a MediaQueryList for a defined query. The result can be used to check and monitor whether the document matches that condition. It supplies an observation mechanism rather than a complete responsive design; review the application’s actual response and the customer-visible task when conditions change.

    Also called: Window.matchMedia

  • Websites & hosting

    Materialized view

A materialized view stores the results of a defined query for later use, with supported refresh operations. In PostgreSQL, those stored results can be queried separately from recomputing the source query each time. Review the refresh schedule and displayed freshness; the stored result may differ from the database’s latest underlying information.

    Also called: Materialised view

  • AI & new tech

    Math absolute value

Math.abs() returns a number’s absolute value. A feature using magnitude still needs to explain whether the original sign has business meaning. Review representative input and output with the maintainer, so the application does not silently discard a direction or state the receiving task needs to interpret the result correctly.

    Also called: Math.abs()

  • AI & new tech

    Math ceil

Math.ceil() returns the smallest integer greater than or equal to its numeric input. It rounds up under that rule. Keep the intended quantity and rounding purpose clear, then inspect representative values and the receiving result so the feature uses an approved business rule rather than whichever operation happens to produce a whole number.

    Also called: Math.ceil()

  • AI & new tech

    Math floor

Math.floor() returns the largest integer less than or equal to its numeric input. It rounds down, including for negative values. Explain why the operation fits the feature and review representative boundaries, so the resulting quantity has the business meaning the receiver expects instead of inheriting an undocumented rounding rule.

    Also called: Math.floor()

  • AI & new tech

    Math maximum

Math.max() returns the largest supplied number, or negative Infinity when no arguments are supplied. Explain which values the feature compares and inspect a relevant empty condition. The resulting maximum needs a clear business meaning and appropriate handling before another operation treats it as a permitted quantity or completed calculation.

    Also called: Math.max()

  • AI & new tech

    Math minimum

Math.min() returns the smallest supplied number, or Infinity when no arguments are supplied. Review the actual inputs and relevant empty handling. A technical minimum is insufficient evidence of a valid lower business limit or a usable result, so the receiver needs an explicitly defined interpretation for the feature.

    Also called: Math.min()

  • AI & new tech

    Math power

Math.pow() raises a base to a supplied power under JavaScript’s numeric rules. Keep the actual formula, units and expected result clear in the feature brief. Have the maintainer assess supported inputs and relevant failures, then compare representative output with an approved calculation requirement before relying on the resulting value.

    Also called: Math.pow()

  • AI & new tech

    Math round

Math.round() returns a number rounded to the nearest integer under its supported rules. The business needs to agree why that rounding is appropriate. Have the maintainer assess relevant boundary values and review the receiving output, so a familiar method name does not silently choose the application’s quantity or precision policy.

    Also called: Math.round()

  • AI & new tech

    Math sign

Math.sign() returns a value indicating a number’s positive or negative sign, with zero and negative zero returned as supplied. Ask how the feature interprets that result and inspect representative values. A sign classification needs a defined business purpose before it controls a visible message or receiving operation.

    Also called: Math.sign()

  • AI & new tech

    Math square root

Math.sqrt() returns a number’s square root under its supported numeric rules. A feature needs appropriate input handling and a clearly defined calculation purpose. Review the units, representative expected output and relevant unsuitable values with the maintainer, so the operation supports an approved result rather than merely returning some numeric value.

    Also called: Math.sqrt()

  • AI & new tech

    Math trunc

Math.trunc() removes fractional digits to return the integer part of a number. It has a different role from choosing the nearest integer. Ask why the feature uses truncation and review representative positive and negative values where relevant, so the resulting output matches the approved quantity requirement.

    Also called: Math.trunc()

  • Design & content

    Maximum input length

The HTML maxlength attribute sets a maximum supported text-entry length measured in UTF-16 code units. That measure can differ from a visitor’s count of visible characters. Review the business reason for the limit, relevant entry cases and the receiving interpretation; an implemented length cap is separate from making the requested information understandable.

    Also called: maxlength

  • Websites & hosting

    Maximum segment size

Maximum segment size, or MSS, concerns the amount of TCP data in a segment under the relevant sending or receiving limit. It differs from MTU, which concerns the packet size on a link or path. Ask the administrator to review the actual path and supported configuration before choosing a value.

    Also called: TCP MSS

  • Design & content

    Media autoplay

Media autoplay starts audio or video without the visitor explicitly requesting playback, whether through markup or code. Browser rules can block audible automatic playback. Review the intended experience and provide usable controls; an autoplay setting is not evidence that the video actually started or that the visitor wanted to hear it.

Also called: Audio and video autoplay

  • Design & content

    Media buffered ranges

Media buffered ranges identify portions of an audio or video resource buffered by the browser at the time of inspection. They differ from portions already played or currently available to seek to. Use the actual observation when investigating playback; buffered data alone does not establish that a visitor watched or understood the recording.

    Also called: Buffered media ranges

  • Design & content

    Media codec profile

A media codec profile identifies a supported set of coding features within a codec. For example, VP9’s documented profiles distinguish colour depth and chroma arrangements. Record the actual profile with the export specification and review the intended decoder; the codec’s name alone does not describe every supported configuration.

    Also called: Codec profile

  • Design & content

    Media container

A media container packages media streams and associated information in a file format. MP4, WebM and Ogg are examples; the codecs used for picture and sound are separate choices within supported arrangements. A Jersey business should inspect the actual export and test its intended player rather than assume a container name guarantees playback or quality.

Also called: Audio and video container

  • Design & content

    Media controls

Media controls are the player interface used to operate audio or video. HTML’s controls setting requests the browser’s media controls, while custom players can supply another interface. Review the actual labels, keyboard use and required features; requesting controls does not by itself verify every aspect of accessibility or the intended customer journey.

Also called: Audio and video controls

  • Design & content

    Media CORS setting

A media CORS setting controls the supported cross-origin fetching arrangement for an audio or video element. The crossOrigin property reflects that choice, including applicable credential behaviour. It is separate from the server’s response configuration. Have the maintainer check both sides rather than assume adding an attribute fixes every external-media loading problem.

    Also called: Media crossOrigin

  • Design & content

    Media current time

Media current time is the playback position reported in seconds for an audio or video element. Setting the supported currentTime property requests navigation to another available point. Review the actual timeline and result; a requested position is separate from proof that the corresponding section played successfully or remained available in a live stream.

    Also called: Media playback position

  • Design & content

    Media duration

Media duration is the length reported in seconds for an audio or video element. A browser can report no available duration yet, and media without a known duration can have an infinite value. Handle those states appropriately in player labels rather than assume every resource has a finite length ready immediately.

Also called: Audio and video duration

  • Design & content

    Media error

A media error records the most recent error reported by an audio or video element, while the supported error property is null when none has occurred. Review its details alongside the resource and player behaviour. An absent reported error is separate from evidence that the content, controls and customer experience are all correct.

    Also called: HTML media error

  • Design & content

    Media loop

Media loop requests that an audio or video element start again when it reaches its end. HTML’s loop property reflects the corresponding attribute. Review whether repeating the content supports the visitor’s task and whether controls remain usable; a loop setting does not prove successful playback or an appropriate experience for every recording.

Also called: Audio and video looping

  • Design & content

    Media mute state

Media mute state indicates whether an audio or video element is muted through its supported muted property. It is separate from the recording’s sound encoding and from whether a device’s speakers are audible. Review the actual player and listening arrangement; an unmuted element alone does not establish that the visitor heard the sound.

    Also called: Media muted property

  • Design & content

    Media network state

Media network state reports the current state of an audio or video element’s media fetching, such as active downloading or an idle selected resource. It is separate from media readiness and the customer-visible playback result. Use it alongside other observations when investigating a player rather than interpret one state as proof that the full journey works.

    Also called: HTML media networkState

  • Design & content

    Media playback rate

Media playback rate controls the speed of audio or video playback relative to normal speed. A value of one represents normal speed; supported lower and higher values slow or accelerate playback. Review the actual controls, sound and intended browser support rather than assume every requested speed or reverse-playback arrangement works identically.

Also called: Audio and video playback speed

  • Design & content

    Media played ranges

Media played ranges record the portions of a media element’s timeline that have played. The browser exposes these through its played property. They are separate from fetched or seekable data and do not prove that a person paid attention, understood the information or completed the business task described by the recording.

    Also called: Played media ranges

  • Design & content

    Media preload

Media preload is a hint about loading audio or video before playback. Options can request no preload, metadata or broader loading, but a hint does not guarantee the browser’s actual network behaviour. Check the intended page and media use rather than assume one attribute proves which data visitors will receive before pressing play.

Also called: Audio and video preload

  • Design & content

    Media query

A media query tests conditions such as media type, viewport size or supported user preferences so a website can adapt its presentation. CSS can apply rules when the query matches. A Jersey business should identify the intended condition and review the resulting layout and customer task; one matching query does not prove the complete design works across all devices.

    Also called: CSS media query

  • Design & content

    Media ready state

Media ready state reports the browser’s readiness information for an audio or video element, ranging from no information to available media data at defined levels. It is a current technical observation. Check actual playback and changes over time rather than treat one readiness value as proof of a complete, permanently uninterrupted customer experience.

    Also called: HTML media readyState

  • Design & content

    Media seekable ranges

Media seekable ranges identify portions of an audio or video resource that the browser can seek to at the time of inspection. They are separate from buffered and played ranges. Review the actual media timeline and controls rather than assume every point in a recording or live stream remains available for navigation.

    Also called: Seekable media ranges

  • Design & content

    Media source URL

A media source URL identifies the actual selected media resource exposed by an element’s currentSrc property. It can be empty when no relevant selection is available. Inspect this value alongside the configured sources when investigating playback; it differs from the surrounding page URL and does not by itself prove the chosen file played successfully.

    Also called: Media currentSrc

  • Design & content

    Media transcoding

Media transcoding decodes a media stream and encodes it again. It differs from copying an encoded stream into another supported packaging arrangement. Ask the supplier what the conversion will actually do, retain the source and review the output; a changed filename or container does not establish whether the sound or pictures were re-encoded.

Also called: Audio and video transcoding

  • Design & content

    Media transcript

A media transcript gives a text version of a recording’s meaningful information. Basic transcripts cover speech and relevant sound; descriptive transcripts also explain important visuals. A Jersey business should make the approved transcript easy to find, check it against the finished media and maintain the relationship when replacing a video or audio recording.

Also called: video transcript, audio transcript

  • Design & content

    Media volume

Media volume is the media element’s supported volume setting, expressed between zero and one. Zero represents no audible level from that setting and one its maximum. It differs from the device’s own controls. Review actual browser support and the listening experience rather than assume a page setting establishes the loudness a visitor hears.

    Also called: HTML media volume

  • Design & content

    Mental model

A mental model is a person’s understanding or belief about how a system works. It can differ from the implementation and from another person’s expectations. Research can help reveal relevant assumptions, so review the actual audience and task instead of treating the designer’s explanation as something every customer already knows.

  • Websites & hosting

    Merge conflict

A merge conflict occurs when Git cannot automatically reconcile relevant changes while combining histories. A person must resolve the content deliberately. Review the intended behaviour from both changes and verify the result; simply removing conflict markers does not prove that the combined website still works.

  • Websites & hosting

    Message queue

A message queue stores messages for processing by receiving components, helping separate when work is submitted from when it is handled. Ordering, delivery and retry behaviour depend on the service and configuration. Ask how the application detects failures and avoids unintended repeated business actions.

  • SEO

    Meta description

A meta description is a short summary placed in a web page's HTML to describe that page.

Also called: SEO description, search description

  • Design & content

    Microcopy

Microcopy is short interface wording that guides a person, such as a button label, field hint or confirmation message. Small pieces of text can affect whether the next step is understood. Review them in the functioning journey and make them accurate about what the website actually does.

    Also called: UI copy

  • SEO

    Microdata

Microdata adds structured information using attributes within HTML. A particular vocabulary defines the meaning of the items and properties. For a business website, check that the implementation describes the visible content correctly and meets the requirements of the service expected to read it.

  • Websites & hosting

    MIME type

A MIME type, also called a media type, describes the nature and format of content, such as HTML, JSON or an image. In HTTP it is commonly declared through Content-Type. It helps software interpret the content, but does not prove a file is safe. Review the actual type, content and supported handling.

    Also called: media type

  • Websites & hosting

    Minification

Minification reduces code size by removing or shortening content that is unnecessary for its operation, according to the tool’s transformations. It differs from compressing a response during transfer. Review the delivered files and behaviour; a smaller file alone does not establish that the whole customer journey is fast or correct.

  • Design & content

    Minimum input length

The HTML minlength attribute sets a minimum supported text-entry length measured in UTF-16 code units, which do not always correspond one-for-one with visible characters. It does not make an empty optional field required by itself. Agree the actual information rule and test representative entries instead of infer the customer experience from the number alone.

    Also called: minlength

  • Security & legal

    Mixed content

Mixed content occurs when a secure page requests some resources through an insecure connection. Browsers may upgrade or block those requests according to their rules. Check old image, script and embedded-resource addresses when moving a Jersey website to HTTPS; changing the main address may not update every reference.

  • SEO

    Mobile-first indexing

Mobile-first indexing means Google uses the mobile version of a site’s content for its indexing and ranking processes. Review the actual mobile content, access and relevant metadata. Responsive design can support the experience, but its presence alone does not establish that every important piece of content is available.

  • Websites & hosting

    Mock

In software testing, a mock replaces selected behaviour with a controlled substitute so a test can examine a particular situation. A simulated response does not establish that the real external service works. Record substitutions and verify important connections in the appropriate environment.

    Also called: test mock, mocking

  • AI & new tech

    Model drift

Model drift describes changes that reduce a machine-learning model’s performance, such as differences in incoming data or relationships compared with its earlier conditions. Monitoring and reassessment help identify this. Investigate the actual cause of a changed result; an outdated document, software change and model drift are not interchangeable explanations.

    Also called: AI model drift

  • Analytics

    Modelled data

Modelled data estimates information through a statistical or machine-learning model rather than directly observing every reported case. Google Analytics can use modelling in eligible arrangements. Review whether the report includes estimates and its limitations; modelling should not be treated as a reconstruction of every individual visitor’s actions.

    Also called: modeled data

  • Websites & hosting

    Monitoring

Website monitoring observes selected signals, such as availability, response times or errors, to detect relevant changes and problems.

    Also called: website monitoring

  • Design & content

    MP3

MP3 names an audio encoding and the associated delivery file format commonly using the .mp3 extension. Such files can also include ID3 metadata. Check the delivered recording, its version and actual playback rather than assume the label establishes sound quality, correct spoken information or a complete written alternative.

Also called: MPEG Layer III audio

  • Design & content

    MP4

MP4 is a media container format that can package audio, video and associated information. It does not identify one particular picture or sound codec. When receiving a website video, ask for the actual stream encodings and inspect the approved export; the extension alone does not establish playback on the intended customer devices.

    Also called: MPEG-4 container

  • Online selling

    MPN

MPN means Manufacturer Part Number. It identifies a specific product within a manufacturer’s range and differs from a retailer’s own SKU. Use the actual assigned number for the relevant item. Ask the supplier to confirm uncertain identifiers before submitting product data, rather than generate a plausible-looking code.

    Also called: Manufacturer Part Number

  • Websites & hosting

    MTU

MTU means maximum transmission unit. It describes a size limit for packets carried through a relevant network link or interface. The usable path and protocol handling matter. Have the network administrator review an actual size-related problem rather than apply a generic value as a universal performance fix.

    Also called: Maximum transmission unit

  • Websites & hosting

    Multipart form data

Multipart form data is a content format that sends form fields and files as separate parts within one message, using a boundary to distinguish them. Its media type is multipart/form-data. A business upload feature still needs appropriate validation, limits and error handling for the actual files and intended task.

    Also called: multipart/form-data

  • Websites & hosting

    Mutation Observer

Mutation Observer watches configured changes to the document’s DOM tree, such as relevant child, attribute or character-data changes. Code can respond through a callback using the chosen target and options. For a Jersey business, review the specific change and resulting customer behaviour; a DOM mutation is separate from confirmation that business information was saved, delivered or understood.

    Also called: MutationObserver

  • Websites & hosting

    Mutation observer disconnect

The Mutation Observer disconnect method stops watching for configured changes and discards detected records not yet reported. Where the feature needs those pending records, the implementation can retrieve them first with takeRecords. Review the intended shutdown behaviour rather than equate stopping observation with processing every queued change.

    Also called: MutationObserver.disconnect()

  • Websites & hosting

    Mutation observer observe

The Mutation Observer observe method configures a target and options for receiving matching DOM-change notifications. Supported options distinguish child-list, attribute and character-data changes. Identify the needed condition and scope with the maintainer, then inspect the feature’s response rather than assume the observer watches every possible business or interface change.

    Also called: MutationObserver.observe()

  • Websites & hosting

    Mutation old value

A MutationRecord oldValue can contain an attribute’s previous value when the relevant observation options request it, or other documented previous data for supported change types. Do not assume every record contains an earlier value. Review the configuration and actual record with the maintainer before using it to interpret a page change.

    Also called: MutationRecord.oldValue

  • Websites & hosting

    Mutation record

A MutationRecord describes an individual DOM change reported through the mutation-observation mechanism. Its information depends on the change and observation configuration. Review what the record establishes for the actual feature; a document change is separate from proof that a business record was saved or a customer completed the task.

    Also called: MutationRecord interface

  • Domains & email

    MX records

MX records are DNS records that identify the mail servers responsible for receiving email for a domain.

Also called: mail exchange records, MX record
