  • Design & content

    Validation message property

An input’s validationMessage property provides a localised message for unsatisfied browser constraints, or an empty string when it is valid or excluded from validation. Review the actual control and displayed feedback. An empty message alone should not be treated as evidence that a receiving system accepted the information or completed the customer task.

    Also called: HTMLInputElement.validationMessage

  • Design & content

    Validity bad input

The ValidityState.badInput flag reports input that the browser cannot convert. Keep the affected control and expected entry clear in the review. Inspect the actual message and correction with representative supported input, so the technical flag helps the visitor provide useful information rather than leaving them with an unexplained failure.

    Also called: ValidityState.badInput

  • Design & content

    Validity custom error

The ValidityState.customError flag indicates a non-empty custom validity message. It reflects the implementation’s configured condition. Review the message, triggering rule and state after correction with the maintainer, so a custom error is kept accurate and does not remain as stale feedback after the customer supplies acceptable information.

    Also called: ValidityState.customError

  • Design & content

    Validity pattern mismatch

The ValidityState.patternMismatch flag indicates that a value fails the declared pattern rule. Ask what that rule accepts and why the field needs it. Review permitted and unsuitable examples with the actual instruction, so the visitor receives an understandable correction and legitimate entries are assessed against the intended requirement.

    Also called: ValidityState.patternMismatch

  • Design & content

    Validity range overflow

The ValidityState.rangeOverflow flag identifies a value above the declared maximum. Review the maximum’s business purpose and the supported field behaviour. The customer should understand the acceptable value and correction, while the receiving implementation still needs its own checks before using submitted information in the business operation.

    Also called: ValidityState.rangeOverflow

  • Design & content

    Validity range underflow

The ValidityState.rangeUnderflow flag identifies a value below the declared minimum. Keep the lower limit and its meaning clear in the field instructions. Review an appropriate boundary example and useful feedback, so a browser check connects to the actual quantity or value the receiving business task accepts.

    Also called: ValidityState.rangeUnderflow

  • Design & content

    Validity step mismatch

The ValidityState.stepMismatch flag indicates a value that does not fit the declared step rule. Explain the permitted increment and its business meaning. Review representative accepted and rejected entries through the actual control, avoiding an unexplained invalid-value message when the visitor needs to know which supported quantity or interval to choose.

    Also called: ValidityState.stepMismatch

  • Design & content

    Validity too long

The ValidityState.tooLong flag concerns a value exceeding the declared maximum text length. Review the actual control and supported entry behaviour with the maintainer. Clear instructions and useful feedback should explain the relevant limit, so the customer can provide an acceptable answer without losing the intended information during correction.

    Also called: ValidityState.tooLong

  • Design & content

    Validity too short

The ValidityState.tooShort flag concerns a value failing the declared minimum text length. Agree why the task needs that limit and review a representative entry. A length rule needs an understandable customer instruction and receiving interpretation; meeting the minimum does not establish that the answer contains useful or accurate information.

    Also called: ValidityState.tooShort

  • Design & content

    Validity type mismatch

The ValidityState.typeMismatch flag concerns email or URL syntax that fails the relevant input-type rule. Explain the expected field and review useful correction feedback. A syntax result is insufficient evidence of mailbox ownership or a trustworthy destination, so any wider receiving decision needs its own appropriate assessment.

    Also called: ValidityState.typeMismatch

  • Design & content

    Validity valid flag

The ValidityState.valid flag is true when the element meets its validation constraints. Its meaning is limited to those rules. Ask which checks the feature declares and review the actual receiving result, rather than expanding a valid browser state into proof of accurate information, customer identity or a completed staff record.

    Also called: ValidityState.valid

  • Design & content

    Validity value missing

The ValidityState.valueMissing flag identifies a missing required value. Review the actual participating control, visible requirement and useful correction message. Required status needs a business purpose, and a later entered answer still needs appropriate receiving checks before the feature treats the enquiry or other customer task as usable.

    Also called: ValidityState.valueMissing

  • Design & content

    ValidityState

ValidityState represents a form element’s browser constraint-validation states. Its flags can help explain a failed check. Have the maintainer connect the reported condition to useful field feedback, then review the actual correction route; a browser state does not establish accurate information, receiving acceptance or a completed enquiry.

    Variable

A variable gives a program a named way to refer to a value. The language defines how it can be created and changed. Website owners do not need to memorise syntax; useful questions concern the expected behaviour, appropriate validation and maintenance of the code handling business information.

  • Websites & hosting

    Vary header

The Vary response header identifies request headers that influenced the selected response. Caches can use this information to keep the relevant variants separate. For example, a response may vary with accepted encoding. Review Vary alongside the actual cache configuration; it does not make personalised or private content automatically safe to share.

  • Design & content

    Vector image

A vector image describes shapes mathematically rather than only as a fixed grid of pixels. It can suit logos and diagrams that need to scale. Format features and export quality still matter; check the actual artwork and accessible description used by the website.

  • AI & new tech

    Vector index

A vector index organises numeric representations for search, with the relevant fields and comparison configuration. It may also retain ordinary text and metadata. Its existence does not prove that documents are current or access rules are enforced. Review how content is loaded, changed, removed and retrieved for the intended users.

  • AI & new tech

    Vector query

A vector query supplies a numeric representation for comparison with compatible indexed vectors. An application may convert a person’s text question into that representation before searching. The returned candidates still need relevance and access checks. Confirm that document and query conversion use the intended compatible model arrangement.

    Version control

Version control records changes to project files so people can compare work, review decisions and return to earlier recorded states. It is commonly used for website code and configuration. A Jersey business should know who owns the repository and which parts of the live service require separate backups or recovery arrangements.

    Also called: source control

  • Websites & hosting

    Vertical scaling

Vertical scaling increases the capacity allocated to a relevant component, such as its processing or memory resources. It differs from adding more instances. Review the actual workload, limits and change handling before choosing an increase; more capacity does not automatically correct inefficient application behaviour or an unrelated service problem.

    Also called: scaling up

    Video bitrate

Video bitrate describes the amount of encoded picture data per second, commonly expressed in bits per second or a multiple such as megabits per second. It is separate from resolution and frame rate. A Jersey business should compare actual export size, important picture detail and intended playback rather than choose a number without reviewing the output.

    Also called: Video bit rate

  • Design & content

    Video captions

Video captions are synchronised text for speech and other audio information needed to understand a video.

    Also called: closed captions

  • Design & content

    Video codec

A video codec encodes and decodes the picture stream in a video. It affects how that stream is represented and compressed, while a container such as MP4 packages media streams. A Jersey business should check the actual exported codec, quality and playback on its intended devices rather than judge compatibility from the filename alone.

  • Design & content

    Video frame rate

Video frame rate describes the number of frames making up one second of playback, commonly expressed as frames per second. It is separate from the picture’s dimensions and encoded bitrate. Record these export properties separately and review the important motion in the actual delivered video rather than approve an output from one number alone.

    Also called: Video FPS

  • Design & content

    Video poster image

A video poster image is artwork associated with a video’s initial presentation before its picture is available. It is configured separately from the encoded video. Review its accuracy, legibility and the actual page appearance; a good poster does not establish that the video plays, contains current information or has suitable captions.

    Also called: Video poster

  • SEO

    Video sitemap

A video sitemap uses sitemap information to describe relevant video content to a search engine. Follow the recipient’s required fields and keep the data consistent with the accessible video and page. A valid file does not establish eligibility for every video search feature or guarantee visibility.

  • Design & content

    Viewport

The viewport is the visible area in which a browser displays a document. Responsive layouts respond to available space, which is not always identical to a device’s physical screen dimensions. Review the actual content and controls at different viewport sizes instead of relying on one phone label.

    Virtual machine

A virtual machine provides a computing environment using virtualised hardware resources and its own operating-system arrangement. A hypervisor manages its use of underlying host resources. It can run a website application, but the hosting team still needs to configure and maintain the guest system, application, access and recovery according to the actual service agreement.

    Also called: VM

  • Design & content

    Visual testing

Visual testing compares a rendered interface with an expected appearance to detect differences. Automated image comparisons depend on controlled conditions and suitable reference images. Review meaningful changes and combine the results with functional and accessibility checks; similar screenshots do not establish a working customer task.

    Also called: visual regression testing

  • Design & content

    VP9

VP9 is a video compression format described by the WebM Project and Google’s media documentation. It encodes the picture stream, while the enclosing container and sound encoding are separate properties. Inspect the export and intended devices before publication rather than infer the complete media arrangement or an exact saving from the codec name.

    Also called: VP9 video codec

  • Security & legal

    VPN

A VPN, or virtual private network, provides a configured connection between devices or networks over another network.

    Also called: Virtual private network

  • Websites & hosting

    VPS

VPS means virtual private server. It is a hosting arrangement using a virtualised server environment with allocated resources on underlying infrastructure. Management and included support vary by service. Review who maintains the operating system, application and recovery process before treating a VPS account as an independently maintained business website.

    Also called: Virtual private server

  • Security & legal

    Vulnerability

A vulnerability is a weakness that can affect security when exploited. It may exist in code, configuration or another part of a system. A business should know who reviews reported weaknesses and applies appropriate fixes; a website looking normal does not establish that it has no vulnerabilities.
