Questions

How much is a taxi in Jersey?

A cab can charge at most £4.15 for the first 176 yards and 31p for each 176 yards after, from Monday to Saturday between 7am and 11pm. That works out at about £6.94 for the first mile and £19.34 for five miles, before waiting time and extras.

Are taxis more expensive at night and on Sundays?

Yes. From 11pm to 7am, and all day on Sundays and public holidays, the maximum is £4.40 for the first 176 yards and 43p for each 176 yards after. Over Christmas and New Year it is £7.00 and 47p.

Do Jersey taxis charge extra for card payments?

They may. The Order allows 50p for every fare not paid in cash, and £2.00 for each passenger over four.

Is this the price I will pay?

It is the most a cab can charge on the meter for that distance and time. A firm can agree a different price with you before the journey, and booking firms can charge their own published rates and a booking fee, so ask for the price when you book.

How do I find the distance?

Use the driving distance from a maps app. Taxis follow the road, so the distance in a straight line will be too short.
